Was macht Céline so liebenswürdig? Ihre Natürlichkeit? Ihr charmantes Wesen? Ihre Leidenschaft? Ihre charismatischen Ausstrahlung oder ihr Sinn für Humor? Vom letzteren Attribut konnten wir uns beim Premierekonzert der "Taking Chances" WorldTour in Montréal überzeugen, als Véronic DiCaire -der versprochene fantastische Opening-Act des Abends- eine dynamische und sehr leidenschaftliche Interpretation von Céline's "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une" präsentierte. Trotz melodramatischen Gestus performte Véronic -im Gegensatz zu manch anderen MöchtegernParodisten- keines falls künstlich und angestrengt. Nein. Ihre Performance war sehr natürlich, berührend vor allem aber sehr schön. So schön, dass Céline große Freude beim anschauen vom Backstagebereich aus hatte und sich ein kleines Schmunzeln nicht verkneifen konnte. Nach dem phänomenalen "I Drove All Night" Intro-Video, das die größten und aufregendsten Station der bisherigen "Taking Chances" Tour durch Afrika, Asien, Australien und Europa Revue passieren liess, erschien Céline auf der Bühne inmitten des Bell Centre. Sie winkte, ballte die Faust zusammen, lachte und ihre Augen funkelten heller als der klare Sternehimmel über Montréal, als sie mit einem lautstarken "Bonsoir tout le monde! Vous êtes là? Vous êtes là?" ihr gespannt wartendes Publikum begrüßte. Die 22.400 Fans im komplett ausverkauften Bell Centre entgegneten mit einem herzlichen "YEEEAAAAHHHHH"! Die Stimmung knisterte und Céline erzählte, dass sie sich seit Beginn der "Taking Chances" WorldTour in Süd-Afrika am meisten auf diesen Moment gefreut habe. Endlich nach Hause zu kommen und das spürten die Fans auch. Die Bühne aufgestellt in der Mitte der Arena ermöglichte Céline einen überraschend nahen Kontakt mit den jubelnden Fans. Die Fans erlebten eine absolut spektakuläre Megashow untermalt von einem visuellen Fest der Farbe, Mode, Tanz und der Überraschungen. Überraschend waren auch die Special-Effects der "Taking Chances" Bühne, die brillant zum Vorschein kommen, wie die eingebauten Falltüren in der Bühne, gleitende Laufbänder, hoch und runter fahrende Plateaus, die Céline's zehn-köpfige Band blitzschnell verschwinden oder mit Céline auf der Bühne feiern lassen und die ultra hochauflösenden LCD Videoleinwände, die Céline's Gesicht bis in die letzten Reihen der Konzertarena trugen. Aber all das war nicht das Wichtigste an diesem Abend. Céline war wichtig. Céline's Rückkehr nach Montréal. Céline's Rückkehr nach Hause nach gut acht Jahren. Das Konzert glich einer gigantischen Wiedersehensfeier. Die Stimmung war familiär, vertraut und emotionale. Trotz der vielen Fans fast schon ein bisschen intim. Céline präsentierte ihren Fans ihre größten Hits und dynamische neue Songs. Der Höhepunkt des Abends war aber unumstritten die Performance von "L'amour Existe Encore" - ein leidenschaftliches wenn auch melancholisches Liebenslied, das nur Céline mit ihrer Stimme und ihren Emotionen Leben und Hoffnung einhauchen kann. Die Quebecer lieben Céline und Céline liebt die Quebecer. Trotz Weltruhm ist sie tief im Herzen die kleine Céline aus Charlemagne geblieben. Eine von ihnen. Ein Star aus Quebec. Ein Star zum anfassen. Unerreichbar und doch wie ein Familienmitglied. What makes Céline so loveable? Naturalness? Charming being? Passion? Charismatic aura or her sense of humour? From the last attribute we could get convinced at the premiere concert of the "Taking Chances" World Tour in Montréal as Véronic DiCaire -the promised fantastic opening act of the evening- has presented a dynamic and very passionate interpretation of Céline's "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une". Despite of the melodramatic gesture Véronic has performed -in contrast to many other wannebe Parodist- not artificial and strained. No. Her performance was very natural, especially touching but most of all very beautiful. So beautiful that Céline has loved it and could not resist to a small smile. After the phenomenal "I Drove All Night" intro video, which was showing the biggest and most exciting stations of the "Taking Chances" tour so far through Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe, Céline appeared on stage in the middle of the Bell Centre. She waved, ballte the fist, smiled and her eyes sparkled brighter than the stars over the sky in Montréal, when she has welcomed her waiting audience with a "Bonsoir tout le monde! Vous êtes là? Vous êtes là?" The answer in the completely sold-out Bell Centre was an unequivocal "YEEEAAAAHHHHH"! Céline has told since the beginning of the "Taking Chances" World Tour in South Africa she was waiting the most for this moment. Finally coming home. The stage set up in the middle of the arena allowed Céline a surprisingly close contact with the cheering fans. The fans saw an absolutely spectacular mega show accompanied by a visual feast of color, fashion, dance and surprises. Surprising are also the special effects of "Taking Chances" stage as the trap doors built into the stage, moving treadmills, pedaling up and down plateaus and ultra high-resolution LCD video screens. But all that was not the most important thing about this evening. Céline was important. Céline's return to Montréal. Céline's coming back home after eight years. The concert was like a giant reunion ceremony. The atmosphere was friendly, familiar and emotional. Despite to the many fans almost a little bit intimate. Céline has presented her greatest hits and dynamic new songs. The highlight of the evening was the undisputed performance of "L'amour Existe Encore" - a passionate albeit melancholy but hopefully lovesong. The Québecer loved Céline and Céline loves the Québecer. Despite of international fame, Céline has remained deep in her heart the the small girl from Charlemagne. A star from Quebec. A star to touch.
